Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar on Wednesday met Tokyo Olympic silver medalist weightlifter Mirabai Chanu at his home in Mumbai. Mirabai Chanu created history by winning a silver medal in weightlifting at the Olympics last month. He gave India a medal in Olympic weightlifting after two decades. Earlier, Karnam Malleswari had won a bronze medal in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. At the same time, he had given the country a medal on the first day of the medal competition in the Olympics. This happened for the first time that India’s account was opened on the very first day of medal matches.
Both Chanu and Tendulkar gave information about the meeting on Twitter. Chanu tweeted a photo of his meeting with Tendulkar, saying, “It was great meeting Sachin Tendulkar sir this morning. His words of wisdom and inspiration will always be with me. In fact he inspired me a lot. At the same time, Sachin Tendulkar responded by retweeting this tweet of Mirabai Chanu.
