The Indian cricket team was to leave for a tour of South Africa this week, but due to Corona’s new variant Omicron, the tour was pushed a bit. Not only this, now the host Cricket Board Cricket South Africa has announced the new schedule of the Indian team’s tour on Monday. According to the new schedule of CSA, now the first match of the three-match Test series between India and South Africa will be held at Centurion from December 26, which will be called the Boxing Day Test match.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Saturday that the tour would take place amid increasing cases of the Omicron variant in South Africa, but the departure of the Indian team was postponed for a week. India was even supposed to play all three formats against South Africa, but the T20 International series has been dropped from it as the tour has been pushed forward by almost 10 days.
Program has changed:
The Indian team was earlier supposed to leave on December 9, but the itinerary was changed. Now the first Test will start from 26 December, which was earlier scheduled to start from 17 December. CSA said, ‘Now only Test and ODI series will be played on this tour. The tour will take place from December 26 to January 23 at four locations. The four-match T20 series will be played next year at an appropriate time. The second Test will be played at Wanderers from January 3 to 7 and the third at Cape Town from February 11 to 15. The three ODIs will be held at Boland Park, Pearl (January 19 and 21) and Cape Town (January 23).
