VIVO IPL 2021: PBKS vs CSK Preview & Dream 11 Prediction

  • Both teams have a strong batting lineup, but CSK has more depth
  • Punjab Kings have the power to hit more sixes and this can be important
  • The CSK experience can help swing the competition we expect from a high-octane affair.

Punjab Kings vs Chennai Super Kings (PBKSvCSK) : The 8th match of VIVO IPL 2021 will be played between these two teams PBKSvCSK, The match will begin on 16 April at 7:30 pm.

Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings are playing opposite their season debut in IPL 2021. The Kings of Punjab were successful in winning an exciting high scoring match against the Rajasthan Royals, while the Chennai Super Kings got at least 20 runs short in their match against the Delhi Capitals.

Punjab Kings and CSK have played some of the most exciting matches in years and we think we can have another good competition to enjoy this time. Conflict is also one of cultures and ideology. While CSK has opted to stray with their former legendary performers, some of them towards the end of their careers, the Punjab Kings have opted to fill their team with some of the most expensive acquisitions in the IPL auction.

The Punjab Kings have a very powerful batting lineup and this immediately makes them a dangerous team. This is especially true for a site like Wankhede where some really ridiculous scores can be obtained.

CSK would have got around 190 in the last match against Delhi. For the most part, it didn’t look like CSK would pass anywhere, to be honest, but Sam Curran’s innings gave a boost in the end.

Pitch and Weather Conditions:

The weather is going to be very good for cricket and the pitch is going to be absolutely flat. Everything points towards another high scoring match. Typically, these are not the situations where CSK is the most comfortable, but we think their re-improving batting lineup may come as a surprise.

The bounce on the surface helps the batsmen to play their shots easily and it requires something really special for a bowler to be able to get away from this match with good stats.

A score of around 200 should be the minimum that teams aim to bat first.

Batting: Lokesh Rahul has four scores of 90+ in his last four matches at Wankhede. He loves to bat on this surface and is a brave man who is going to wager against him by scoring more runs in this match. Punjab Kings also have a lot of talent to work in the lineup alongside Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, Deepak Hooda, Nicholas Pooran and Shah Rukh Khan. We saw that Deepak Hooda had scored fifty off 20 balls in the last match but did not forget Nicholas Puran as well. He is one of the most exciting batsmen in this entire tournament.

X-Factor: Chris Gayle at no. 3 and Jhe Richardson’s bat at number seven is not ideal, but more and more teams are returning six of their batsmen to work with him.

Bowling: Mohammed Shami, Jhe Richardson, Riley Meredith, Arshadip Singh, and Murugun Ashwin make it a good bowling lineup, but one that can be kept under pressure. Meredith and Richardson are playing in the IPL for the first time and need to adapt quickly.

Predict XI: Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul (c, wk), Nicholas Pooran, Deepak Hooda, shahrukh khan, Jhye Richardson, Murugan Ashwin, Riley Meredith, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh.

Batting: Suresh Raina also performed well and made a comeback after being ruled out in the IPL last season. Even at this late stage of his career, Raina is one of the most important players for CSK in IPL 2021. It appears that CSK is going to struggle to score runs without them. Moin Ali, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni are all great players. They certainly add depth to the paper but the current form of these players is a bit questionable.

Bowling: The bowling was a bit thin and reports suggest that Nigidi or Behrendorff are not going to be available for selection, more or less the same attack is going to be on the show. Where CSK has an advantage experience and Dhoni is able to control the pace of the game. Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar and Sam Curran are expected to return with better plans.

Predict XI: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Faf Du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (C/WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Imran Tahir, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar.
