Man of the Match:

Harshal Patel
Glenn Maxwell

It’sa very nice start, new franchise for me and they have given me a specific role. It’s nice to have batters behind you, you have freedom and that’s almost close to the role I have in the Australian cricket team. It’s just about using the experience. Get myself in and then go for the runs. Probably having those guys behind me is a luxury at RCB. I suppose the coaching effect is there to an extent as well. Obviously my 4th IPL team and there’s a bit of pressure

It was a tough situation (bowling the 17th over), but I am happy that the captain trusted my ability. There was a bit of help from the surface and I exploited it. I was confident about bowling another over, but Siraj was bowling well and deserved to bowl. Bairstow’s catch was important (considering the situation), and I was happy that I got to hold another chance.

Shahbaz Ahmed

My hands were sweaty but no excuses for bowling no-balls. It’s a basic mistake and I will try not to repeat it. I have been told that I will be bowling the pressure overs and I’m really happy that captain has that faith in me. All the games here have such a trend that you can only score when the ball is hard and it gets really difficult when the ball gets softer. Looking at all the games that happened here, it’s always important to stay in the game and never give up.

Harshal Patel

It’s a good wicket to bat on, with the batting line-up we have, we should chase it. There is no dew at the moment, one just need to focus in the field, support the bowlers – as a team, we’re trying to not make too many drops (catches). As a spinner, you’d love such tracks, it’s slow and there’s a bit of bounce, but you need to be accurate with the line and length. If you back up your strengths, you can perform on this surface.

Winning Captain, Virat Kohli (RCB):

Not as exhausted as I am proud (of the team). You are never really out of the game in these conditions. The extra bowling options made those impact performances in the middle overs. I told the guys don’t think that we struggled to get to 149. If it was tough for us, it will be tough for them as well. Our execution under pressure was spot on. It kept getting tougher and tougher with the old ball. I think Maxi’s innings was the difference for us. To be very honest, we are not over excited with wins this season. We have plans. We traded Harshal from Delhi, gave him a specific role and he’s doing a great job.

Losing Captain, David Warner (SRH):

A very bitter pill to swallow. Our bowlers were fantastic to restrict them. Maxwell batted well and set the platform. We needed two set batsmen at the end, but we failed to do that. We needed to build a partnership and play proper cricket shots. We played cross batted shots, and that’s not the way to play here. This hurts. We know how to approach in the upcoming games. We have another three games here and I think the wickets are going to get better. We need minimum damage in the first six overs and play simple cricket. The team batting second (at Chepauk) should have won all the four games. This is exactly what happened last night.
