VIVO IPL 2021: PBKS vs DC Preview & Dream 11 Prediction
- Delhi Capitals have a stronger bowling attack than Punjab Kings
- KL Rahul and Chris Gayle make the Punjab Kings batting lineup very dangerous
- Delhi Capitals have fewer weaknesses and have been more consistent than the Punjab Kings in IPL 2021.
Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals (PBKSvDC): The 29th match of VIVO IPL 2021 will be played between these two teams PBKSvDC, The match will begin on 02 May at 7:30 pm IST.
Punjab Kings pulled off an impressive win against the Royal Challengers Bangalore as the trend of the underdog doing well in the IPL continued. Since 2019, approximately 40% of all Indian Premier League matches have been won by the underdog and so you should never be scared of long odds.
Now Punjab Kings face another tough test against the Delhi Capitals. DC has been one of the most consistent teams in IPL 2021 and won its previous match against KKR convincingly.
Match Prediction for PBKS vs DC may not be as straightforward as it first appears. Punjab Kings have now beaten the Mumbai Indians and RCB so they can certainly get the better of the top teams this season.
KL Rahul is now the Orange Cap holder of IPL 2021 with 331 runs to his name. He has four fifties from seven innings and is in good form quite obviously. From a betting perspective, KL Rahul is one player that you can go ‘Over’ on in terms of runs scored on most occasions and be okay, however, the secret of his consistency is that he plays risk-free cricket at the start.
This is why Punjab Kings do not get very rapid starts and you can bet ‘Under’ for totals in their first-6 overs as KL Rahul tends to take his time.
Things have been going quite well for DC in IPL 2021 so far. They have just lost two matches so far and both of them were close contests as well. The biggest reason for their success has been the form of Shikhar Dhawan at the top.
Dhawan has 311 runs to his name and is just behind KL Rahul in the race for the Orange Cap. Prithvi Shaw is also in good form with 269 runs to his name at an astonishing strike rate of 165.03.
Both these players hit a number of fours and so DC is a good candidate for the Total Fours betting market. We tend to bet ‘Over’ on this market especially on good pitches.

PBKS vs DC: Head to Head:
|Punjab Kings||Head to Head||Delhi Capitals|
|15 won||27 Matches||12 won|
|104 runs||Lowest Score||67 runs|
|202 runs||Highest Score||231 runs|
Pitch and Weather Conditions:
It appears as if the wicket in Ahmedabad looks better than it actually plays. The average score batting first is just about 149 and we have seen scores of above 170 be very tough to chase. The betting markets tend to overestimate the number of runs scored after a good start and so in this situation, you should bet the ‘Under’ if you get something around 180-185 on offer.
The best time to score is against the new ball while getting a massive boost in the end overs can be difficult if you don’t have a set batsman in the middle.

PBKS vs DC Probably XI:
Batting: Mayank Aggarwal was out injured in the previous match and may not be back against Delhi since the turnaround time is shorter. Chris Gayle played a brilliant knock against RCB and his place at number is quite secure. Punjab Kings are in good batting form but we have seen them be brilliant or really slow so far. There is just nothing in between and that concerns us.
X-Factor: They have Nicholas Pooran, Deepak Hooda, Moises Henriques, and Shahrukh Khan in the team so they can probably afford to go a bit harder in what should be better batting conditions.
Bowling: The addition of Harpreet Brar and Ravi Bishnoi to the bowling attack adds some much-needed control in the middle-overs. Betting on these players to take a wicket would not be a bad idea at all.
Predict XI: KL Rahul (c, wk), Prabhsimran Singh/Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran/Dawid Malan, Deepak Hooda, Shahrukh Khan, Harpreet Brar, Chris Jordan, Riley Meredith/Jhye Richardson, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohammed Shami.
Batting: With Steve Smith, Rishab Pant, Marcus Stoinis, and Shimron Hetmyer, DC”s batting is very strong and perhaps has a slight edge over the Punjab Kings. The quality of the players in the Delhi team, as well as the current form, makes betting markets like Fifty to be Scored in the DC inning (offered by Casumo) very attractive to us.
X-Factor: Dhawan has 311 runs to his name and is just behind KL Rahul in the race for the Orange Cap. Prithvi Shaw is also in good form with 269 runs to his name at an astonishing strike rate of 165.03.
Bowling: The return of Ishant Sharma and Axar Patel to the team has made the DC bowling lineup very good. Avesh Khan is in great form and is picking wickets in almost every match. He does not have the same kind of reputation as Kagiso Rabada but is actually outperforming him in every single match. We have betting markets overpricing Kagiso Rabada (we think you should avoid these) and offering some great odds on Avesh Khan to take a wicket (look at these seriously).
Predict XI: Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Steve Smith, Rishabh Pant (c,wk), Marcus Stoinis, Shimron Hetmyer, Axar Patel, Lalit Yadav/Amit Mishra, Kagiso Rabada, Ishant Sharma, Avesh Khan.
