VIVO IPL 2021: MI vs RR Preview & Dream 11 Prediction

  • Mumbai Indians’ lower-middle order has been terrible with Pandya brothers not firing with the bat.
  • The surface will likely favor more the kind of bowlers that the Royals have.
  • Sanju Samson, David Miller, Shivam Dube, and Rahul Tewatia have looked good with the bat in the last few matches.

Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals (MIvRR): The 24th match of VIVO IPL 2021 will be played between these two teams MIvRR, The match will begin on 29 April at 3:30 pm IST.

No team would be as happy as Mumbai Indians to move out of Chennai to play the next leg of the Indian Premier League 2021. After all, Mumbai Indians are going through one of the roughest patches they’ve had in recent times. Perceived to be the title favorites before the tournament started, Mumbai Indians are struggling to keep themselves among the top-four sides.

Facing Mumbai Indians in the next match will be Rajasthan Royals who are notoriously inconsistent. They are brilliant when it’s their day and terrible when it’s not. Both sides are floating in the mid-part of the points table and will be desperately searching for a win to strengthen their respective positions.

There’s a striking dissimilarity about Mumbai Indians’ performance this year as compared to the one last year. They haven’t been as ruthless as they are known to be and their slog-overs batting hasn’t done justice to the on-paper firepower that they have. Even though they are still among the top four sides, placed at fourth, they have been far from their best. From a total of five matches played, Mumbai Indians have won two and lost three.

With most of their players opting to leave this season in the middle, Rajasthan Royals are struggling for options. They are now left with only four overseas players to work with and cannot afford another injury or a player leaving the squad. As it stands, the Royals are placed sixth on the points table with two wins in five matches.

Pitch and Weather Conditions:

The weather should be good for playing and we expect the pitch in Ahmedabad to be very good for batting. There should be some nice bounce in the surface for the batsmen and the bowlers should be able to get some help as well. The boundaries are big and can bring the spinners into play as well.

We think a score of around 180 is the least that teams batting first will aim for at this venue.

MI vs RR Probably XI:

MI:

Batting: The biggest concern for Mumbai Indians going into the next phase of the tournament will be their middle-order batting. The likes of Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, and Kieron Pollard have struggled to score quickly and consistently and that has so far been a telling factor in the matches that Mumbai Indians have lost. Apart from that, the form of Quinton de Kock has been concerning and it is only a matter of time before he makes way for Chris Lynn unless, of course, de Kock plays a nifty knock for his side.

X-Factor: Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard

Bowling: The silver living for Mumbai Indians have been the performances by their bowlers and shrewd captaincy by Rohit Sharma. The likes of Trent Boult, Rahul Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, and Jayant Yadav have all been pretty good and the same will be expected from them at Delhi as well.

Predict XI: Quinton de Kock (wk), Rohit Sharma (c), Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Jayant Yadav, Rahul Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult

RR:

Batting: The thing that works for the Royals is that they have a batting lineup that goes extremely deep. The biggest strength of the Royals in this upcoming match will be their top-order that consists of Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson. While Buttler hasn’t looked as consistent as he would want to be in the tournament so far, he has an immaculate record against Mumbai Indians. Besides, Sanju Samson has looked good in the recent matches and he would want to put together a string of consistent performances.

X-Factor: Rahul Tewatia, Riyan Parag

Bowling: With almost all bowlers having an array of slower deliveries in their respective arsenals, which could be of massive importance at Delhi.

Predict XI: Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson (c/wk), Shivam Dube, David Miller, Riyan Parag, Rahul Tewatia, Chris Morris, Shreyas Gopal/Jaydev Unadkat, Mustafizur Rahman, Chetan Sakariya
