The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is scheduled to host the ICC T20 World in India this year. The board has not yet taken any decision regarding its organization due to the increasing cases of corona in India. A decision on this could not be taken at the BCCI special general meeting held on 29 May. The tournament is to be held in October-November this year. According to PTI, after the board meeting held on Tuesday, June 1, the International Cricket Council has asked India to take a decision in this regard by June 28.
The ICC held a board meeting in Dubai on Tuesday in which the T20 World Cup to be held in India was discussed. According to PTI, in this meeting, it has been said to inform the ICC about organizing the tournament for India by the 28th of next month. After the SGM held on May 29, the BCCI had also said to take a decision on it by the end of next month.
The 14th season of the Indian Premier League, which was launched in India amid the Corona epidemic, had to be postponed indefinitely only after 29 matches. It was decided to postpone the tournament after the players found corona infected in the team bubble. Now a consensus has been reached to have it done again in the UAE between September-October.
Before the ICC meeting, BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla had said, India is the first choice for organizing the tournament. We want some time for this from the ICC, at least a month so that a decision can be taken about it. By the end of June or the first week of July, if the situation arising out of Corona in India does not improve, then it can be done in the UAE. If the situation becomes good in India, then we will be able to organize it.
