Neeraj Chopra, the javelin thrower who did an amazing job of winning the gold medal for India at the Tokyo Olympics on Saturday, 7 August, is continuously raining money. After the Haryana government, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had announced a cash prize for Neeraj Chopra and now a franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has also announced a huge prize money for golden boy Neeraj Chopra.
IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has decided to honor Neeraj Chopra as the javelin thrower won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Regarding this,
“To celebrate this special and historic achievement, on behalf of the fans, Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited, India’s much loved and renowned sports team and Lt Col MS Dhoni has joined the Indian Army as a Best wishes to Junior Commissioned Officer Neeraj Chopra.”CSK said in its official statement,
CSK will award Rs 1 crore to Neeraj Chopra as a token of appreciation and respect for his stupendous achievement. A CSK spokesperson said, “We Indians are proud of Neeraj Chopra, as his efforts at Tokyo 2020 will inspire millions of Indians to take up the sport and be able to compete and excel at the highest level in any discipline of the sport. Will instill confidence in him to be there. His gold medal winning throw of 87.58m in men’s javelin throw has stunned the entire nation.”
CSK will make a special jersey with the number 8758 in honor of Neeraj Chopra. Neeraj Chopra covered a distance of 87.58 meters with a javelin throw to take gold in the Olympics on Saturday. He started his campaign for the medal with a huge throw of 87.03m and was on top even after the end of the first attempt. He improved it with a second throw of 87.58m. Though he could not improve further, it was enough to earn him the coveted medal. He is the second Indian after Abhinav Bindra to win a gold medal in individual events.
